In July 2019, Epstein, an Iranian-born Jew, was arrested for sex trafficking and found dead in his jail cell on August 10, 2019. Authorities determined that Epstein had hanged himself in the jail.  Also, his mistress, Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in June 2022.
