International Cricket Council (ICC) : Schedule for 2024 T20 World Cup
On Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the fixture for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, the ninth edition of the 20-over showcase, which will be played between June 1 and 29. The tournament will comprise 20 teams – an increase from 16 teams participating in the 2022 edition – divided into four groups of five sides each.
ICC schedule says the T20 World Cup 2024 will be co-hosted by the USA and West Indies. A total of three venues in the USA and six in the Caribbean will be used for the tournament.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Eight stage where the teams will be divided into two groups again – A1, B2, C1, and D2 in one group, and A2, B1, C2, and D1 in the other group.
The top two sides from the two Super Eight groups will then make the semis. The preliminary stage of the event will be held between June 1 and 18 while the Super Eight stage will take place from June 19 to 24.
Team India schedule for the T20 World Cup 2024
India v Ireland – June 5, New York
India v Pakistan – June 9, New York
India v USA – June 12, New York
India v Canada – June 15, Florida
The ICC said in a press release that, 41 matches will be played in the Caribbean across six different islands, with semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana and the title decider scheduled to be played in Barbados on 29 June.
The title, dubbed the Auty Cup, had such a special appeal that Canada’s first prime minister sir John A. Macdonald declared cricket as the country’s first official sport in 1867.
Both countries will be making their debut at the T20 World Cup, but Canada has made four appearances at the 50-over World Cup with their last being in 2007.
It does pose few questions whether these tournaments are compromised, but organizers will hardly care when a heaving 34,000-seat modular stadium in Eisenhower Park is beamed to a viewership of hundreds of millions worldwide. The stadium is still under construction.
“The temporary stadium would be constructed of modular steel and aluminum technology. The venue’s other facilities would be comprised of marquee tents and modular structures. The project is located in East Meadow, New York,” Nassau County said.
There will be eight matches played at the purpose-built sports and events park about 30 miles east of Manhattan. Initially, there had been plans to develop a 34,000-seat stadium in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
More teams , new venues everything is fine. However, it was stunning as expressed by one fan that the Jamaica, Sabina park will not host any game. Also, they are disheartened that the largest of Windies Island by population will not held any game.
